Philosophy on teacher licensing:
Providing our youth with a quaiity education is one of our most important responsibiities as an adult community. By promoting professionalism in education, teacher licensure helps to ensure that children in Hawaii are taught by qualified teachers who demonstrate professionalism through rigorous academic fitness and high codes of ethics and values. Having licensed teachers in the classroom who are given opportunities to improve through professional development, will help to elevate the teaching profession.
Goals as an HTSB Board member:
- To draw upon my varied work experiences in order to make decisions that will help to improve the education of Hawaii's children;
- To elevate the reputation of the teaching profession; and
- To find ways to support educators so they can continue to meet high standards.
