HTSB cannot complete the processing of your Ni'ihau Limited Duty Special Permit Application until you:
- Are recommended by the Hawaii Department of Education for showing strong progress towards meeting the licensing requirements and thus, qualifying for the Ni'ihau Special Permit;
- Meet the Professional Fitness requirements listed on the application, Section Two; and
- Pay your permit fee to practice the profession of teaching.
The effective date of your permit will be the date when you meet all requirements and submit all required documentation. This permit will expire on the last day of the school year in which it is issued. You must reapply each year for the permit. Please periodically check our website for any revisions to requirements and watch for announcements about the launch of our online licensing system.
