COMPOSITE SCORES

Only Praxis PPST tests taken prior to July 1, 2011 will qualify for the composite score.  PPST tests taken after this date will have to receive a passing score to be used for licensure.

Do You Qualify for Composite Scores?

A.  A candidate’s highest PPST scores achieved since August 2001, the date of the last adjustment of PPST scores by the Board, may be used to calculate the candidate’s composite scores.

B.  A candidate’s highest Computerized PPST (CPPST) scores achieved since January 2002, the date when the CPPST was first introduced, may be used to calculate the candidate’s composite scores.

C.  A candidate’s Computer Based Test (CBT) scores may also be used to calculate composite scores, provided that:

  1. the scores met or exceeded the passing scores used prior to August 4, 2001; or
  2. the scores were received on or after the August 4, 2001 administration of the CBT.

The following options describe how to calculate the composite score when using CBT scores:

Option 1 (Applicant has only CBT scores):

Each CBT must have a minimum score of 300 and the composite score must have a minimum total score of 910.

Option 2 (Applicant has 1 PPST and 2 CBT scores):

Each CBT must have a minimum score of 300 and the PPST must have a minimum score of 170. The composite score must have a minimum total score of 778.

Option 3 (Applicant has 2 PPST and 1 CBT scores):

Each PPST must have a minimum score of 170 and the CBT must have a minimum score of 300. The composite score must have a minimum total score of 647.
