A renewable Advanced License may be granted for five (5) years to an applicant using one of the following methods:
1. Applicants who submit verification of:
- A current, valid National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certificate; and
- A current, valid Hawaii Standard teaching license or its equivalent in other states; and
- Documentation of five (5) out of the last eight (8) years of satisfactory full-time teaching experience under a Hawaii Standard License or its equivalent in other states; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
2. Applicants who submit verification of:
- A master's, specialist or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in an area relevant to the teaching field for which a license is sought or a field that improves the practice of teaching; and
- A current, valid Hawaii Standard teaching license or its equivalent in other states; and
- Documentation of five (5) out of the last eight (8) years of satisfactory full-time teaching experience under a Hawaii Standard License or its equivalent in other states; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
