A renewable Standard license may be granted to an applicant for five (5) years using one of the following methods:
1. Applicants who submit verification of:
- Completion of a State Approved Teacher Education Program; and
- Passing scores for Hawaii licensure tests in basic skills, pedagogy and content knowledge; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
2. Applicants who submit verification of:
- A current, valid teaching license in another state; and
- Passing scores on licensure tests in basic skills, pedagogy and content knowledge; and
- Completion of a State Approved Teacher Education Program; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
3. Applicants who did not complete a State Approved Teacher Education Program must submit verification of:
- A current, valid teaching license from another state; and
- At least three (3) years of full-time, satisfactory teaching experience within the past seven (7) years; and
- Passing scores for Hawaii licensure tests in basic skills, pedagogy and content knowledge; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
4. Applicants who hold a valid teaching license and a valid National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certificate must submit verification of:
- A current, valid out of state teaching license; and
- A current, valid NBPTS certificate; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
5. Applicants who received the Meritorious New Teacher Candidate (MNTC) designation on their valid teaching license must submit verification of:
- A current, valid out of state teaching license with the MNTC designation; and
- Professional Fitness clearance; and
- Payment of license fees.
