Standard V:  Demonstrates Knowledge of Content


STANDARD STATEMENT V: The effective school librarian consistently demonstrates competency in information literacy to develop student knowledge and performance.

Performance Criteria for Standard V. The extent to which the school librarian:

  1. Keeps abreast of current developments in information literacy.

  2. Teaches mastery of language, complex processes, concepts and principles unique to information literacy.

  3. Utilizes the school's current technologies to facilitate learning in information literacy.

  4. Connects knowledge of information literacy to students' prior experiences, personal interests and real-life situations.

  5. Possesses an understanding of technology appropriate to information literacy, e.g. computer-assisted instruction.
