The charge of the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board is to ensure that every teacher in Hawaii is qualified to teach Hawaii's children. Thus far, the Standards board has created standards for entry into the profession as well as standards for renewing a license for a teacher, school librarian, or school counselor:
- Teacher Performance Standards
- School Counselor Performance Standards
- School Librarian Performance Standards
- SATE Performance Standards
Recently, HTSB adopted the revised InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards. Effective July 1, 2013, teachers will use these new performance standards to meet licensing requirements and Hawaii teacher preparation programs will incorporate these new standards into their programs.
