Candidate support groups

The HTSB, in partnership with trained facilitators and the Hawaii State Teachers Association, provides support group sessions for any teacher undertaking the National Board Certification process. These sessions are available to teachers on any island. Trained facilitators and National Board Certified Teachers conduct the sessions by providing assistance with and advice on successfully navigating the process.

Past practice has shown that teachers who utilize the support groups have a better grasp of what is expected when creating their portfolio and preparing for the oral and written examinations. Candidates who attend the support group sessions have a higher passing/certification rate compared to those who do not attend sessions.

Registration is required for candidates wishing to participate in the candidate support sessions conducted by trained facilitators of the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.  This will help determine whether sessions will be offered at each of the sites listed below.  If there is insufficient interest in sessions at a particular site, those sessions may be cancelled and candidates may have to travel to a different site.  In this case, your registration will help us to coordinate your placement at another site.
